Pan.bio: an AI genomics platform

Pan.bio takes researchers and clinicians from raw sequencing data to clinical insight in one place. I joined in 2023 as a Software Engineer, was promoted to Senior Software Engineer in September 2025, and work across the AI, Bioinformatics, Data Engineering, and Cloud teams.

01The problem

Genomic analysis is fragmented. A lab runs pipelines in one tool, interprets variants in another, and manages cohorts in spreadsheets. Every hand-off between tools loses time and context, and most of the people doing the work are scientists first, engineers second.

02What I built

My work spans the platform core: the AI engine that generates and optimizes bioinformatics workflows from plain descriptions, the pipeline orchestrator that runs Nextflow at scale, the sandboxed Python and R execution engine behind the interactive notebooks, the literature search engine, and the cloud infrastructure that carries all of it on GCP with Docker and Kubernetes.

03Where it stands

The platform now ships as a product family: Workflows, Notebooks, VAIC for ACMG variant interpretation, Cohorts, and the bioMind AI copilot, running on HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 compliant infrastructure and serving research labs, clinical labs, and pharma teams.
